TiP Test fails on AzureStak TP1 update 1

In the AzureStack TP1 update 1, there are some problems with de TiP (Test in Production) tests. The TiP tests give you a lot of usefull information about de health status of your installation.

The TiP test runs every day with a scheduled task on the ClientVM. The results are visable in the directory C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\AzureStack\TiP\Results.

Azure PowerShell SDK version

When you have problems, please check de installed Azure PowerShell SDK. The TiP test needs the november 2015 version. Do not install the last version. For the deployment of the MSSQL an MySQL Resource Providers, you need the februari 2016 version. After de Resource Provider installation, you must downgrade the Azure PowerShell SDK.

You can find the november 2015 version on the ClientVM at D:\Dependencies\azure-powershell.msi.

PowerShell error

Import-Module : The specified module ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Azure\PowerShell\ResourceManager\AzureResourceManager\AzureRm.AzureStack\AzureRM.AzureStackAdmin.psd1’ was not loaded because no valid module file was found in any module directory.

The solution are;

  1. Copy C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Azure\PowerShell\ResourceManager\AzureResourceManager\AzureRm.AzureStackAdmin
  2. Paste it in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Azure\PowerShell\ResourceManager\AzureResourceManager\
  3. Renamed the copeyed folder to AzureRm.AzureStack.

TiP test does not run

If the TiP Test didn’t run with the scheduled task or if you use Invoke-AzureStackTiPTest, please check if the file C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\AzureStack\TiP\TestState.XML exist. This file locks the TiP test. Remove the file.

When you use Invoke-AzureStackTiPTest you get the follow warning:

WARNING: There is an incomplete test, please wait before it completes.
WARNING: The test result is empty, no test was executed.
